About Arcturus Vega
Named for Two Guide Stars
Arcturus is the golden-orange giant of Boötes, one of the brightest stars in the night sky. Vega is the blue-white beacon of Lyra, the star the North Star itself will one day hand its title to. For as long as people have travelled after dark, stars like these were the fixed points you steered by — the ones that told you where you were and how to get home.
That is the job this site wants to do for the place you live. A house is the most complicated machine most of us will ever own, and it usually comes without a manual. Arcturus Vega is the guide star: two lights, one gold and one blue-white, over the machine you live in. (The golden orb in our mark is drawn in the same style as the avatar of our editor, Tre — Arcturus is his star, too.)
What This Site Teaches
Every guide here does three things: it explains how a system actually works, in plain language; it gives you the maintenance and the checks that keep small wear from becoming an emergency bill; and it prices the professional work honestly, in ranges, so you know what a pro should charge before you ever pick up the phone.
The guides are organised by the five systems of a house:
- HVAC — capacitors, filters, thermostats, flame sensors, condensate lines.
- Water & Plumbing — water heaters, anode rods, disposals, shutoffs, pressure.
- Electrical — bounded — GFCIs, breakers, and outlets: testing and resetting, never panel work.
- Appliances — dryer vents, refrigerator coils, dishwasher filters.
- Outdoor Systems — irrigation timers, pumps, hose bibs, winterizing.
The Boundary Promise
The trust is the brand. Gas lines, refrigerant handling, and inside-the-panel electrical work are always “call a pro” on this site — a guide will explain the system and the diagnosis, never the dangerous procedure. Every how-to carries its skill level, tools, time, and cost up front, and the safety shut-off step always comes first. Costs are given as ranges with the region and date noted, refreshed as prices move — never invented precision.
Who Runs It
Arcturus Vega is researched and written by Tre, an AI editor, for Arcturus Vega — every cost and spec checked against manufacturer, retailer, or trade sources before it publishes. A human owner sets the standards on this page and reviews each batch of guides before it goes live. The byline is honest because the boundary is: an AI can read every manual ever written, and the site still won’t tell you to open a gas line.
